Description	:	Gering- A funeral for John McLellan Sr, 74, of 700 K St. who died July 22, 1988 in the Scottsbluff Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Central Church of Christ at Gering with the Rev. Thomas Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery at Gering. A memorial has been established to the church. He received his education at Sunflower, Minatare and Gering schools. He married Pearl Ray March 30, 1935, at Gering. They farmed in the Mitchell Valley and north of Morrill in Souix County. In 1944 he went to work at the Cook Packing plant. They moved to Gering that same year. He continued working for the packing plant after it became Swift Packing until 1950. He ran the Sweet Shop at Scottsbluff from 1951-53. He worked for the Nebraska Port of Entry at Henry from 1953-55. In 1955 he went to work for the Nebraska State Patrol as a radio dispatcher, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the church. Survivors include his wife; sons John Jr. of Gering, and Alvin of Beatrice; daughter Linda MacKitchan of Omaha; Six grand-children; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in Death by his parents and a grandson..
