Description	:	John Amos Eden, 96, of Ruckersville, and formerly of Culpeper and Jeffersonton, went to be with his Lord on April 13, 2017. Mr. Eden was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Claiborne County, Tenn. He was predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Phoebe Lucille Thayer Eden, his parents, William Sherman and Ida Sarah Edens along with three brothers, five sisters and a granddaughter Shannon Boldridge. Mr. Eden was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Claiborne County, Tenn. He was predeceased by his wife of 73 years, Phoebe Lucille Thayer Eden, his parents, William Sherman and Ida Sarah Edens along with three brothers, five sisters and a granddaughter Shannon Boldridge. He is survived by children John Jr. (Fran), Shirley Martin (Larry) and Paul (Sandy); four grandchildren, Kim Simon (Bruce), Tabitha Cole (Allen), Kerri Cole (Jeff) and John H. Boldridge III (Amara); seven great grandchildren, Kristen, Jessica, Andrew, Gabriella, Brooke, John IV and Jackson; a brother William Sherman; three sisters Edna, Virgie and Glenna, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Eden was a World War II veteran, where he proudly served as an ambulance driver and medic for three years in the European Theatre. He was also very active in Jeffersonton Baptist Church where was a lifetime deacon and served as superintendent of Sunday school. He was very instrumental in the construction of the original addition to the Sunday school addition to Jeffersonton Baptist Church. He was also very active in the Jeffersonton Ruritan club and PTA, serving as president of both organizations Mr. Eden worked mostly in the farm machinery field, where after his war service he was employed by Murphy Huffman (John Deere) as a parts manager and then took a job with Gill Implement Co. (International Harvester) as a shop foreman. The service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Moser Funeral Home with Pastor David Allison officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Jeffersonton Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, P.O. Box 550, Culpeper Va. 22701.
