This is the last record located for him so he is assumed to have died before 1860 Census although he may have moved away and changed his name. He is linked to Sallie P. Dinkins here even though no marriage record was located and North Carolina has never recognized common law marriage within the state. Linked them for the sake of convenience to researchers. John A.C. Dinkins had a relative, not a son or brother but a nephew or a cousin named Chapman Monroe Dinkins who was close to John A C Dinkins in age (both show dates of birth as 1825 or 1826) but they are not the same person. Chapman Monroe Dinkins married Sarah Jane "Sallie" Warden in North Carolina around 1855 and, by 1866, they had moved to Missouri and then on to Colorado where they died near the end of the century. ancestry.com in particular has actual photos of the town where Sallie Jane lived after he died and copies of articles and letters on this branch of the Dinkins family. This adds another Sallie Dinkins to the story but it is easy to follow the documentation to see their move West. There is an ongoing connection between the Chapman family and the Dinkins family in the Surry County-Yadkin County NC area during these years that has caused several men in the Dinkins family to have Chapman as part of their name since John Andrew Chapmen Dinkins was born about 1830. The latest Dinkins man I have located with the name of Chapmen as part of his Christian name was Chapman Allen Dinkins 1907-1992. The researcher will be at a disadvantage if he/she unfamiliar with the formation of counties in North Carolina. Research and study that Surry County NC was formed from a part of Rowan County NC and then Yadkin County NC was formed from a part of Surry County NC. This happened within the years from 1771-1850. Some families lived on the same acres of land from 1771-1850 but found themselves being part of each of the 3 counties at one time of another. My point is that when researching the timeframe of 1771-1850, multiple county searches are required to be thorough.
