Description	:	Obituary from "The Alton Democrat," dated Friday, May 15, 1942, page 1: "PIONEER ALTON RESIDENT GONE - John Sorgdrager, pioneer Alton resident passed on a his home here Monday evening, May 11, 1942, at the age of 76 years and 5 months after an illness which confined him to his home for several years. He was born at Terschelling, Netherlands, on November 11, 1863. As a young lad, be came to the U.S. with his parents and resided at Eldora, Iowa. Read More	Obituary from "The Alton Democrat," dated Friday, May 15, 1942, page 1: "PIONEER ALTON RESIDENT GONE - John Sorgdrager, pioneer Alton resident passed on a his home here Monday evening, May 11, 1942, at the age of 76 years and 5 months after an illness which confined him to his home for several years. He was born at Terschelling, Netherlands, on November 11, 1863. As a young lad, be came to the U.S. with his parents and resided at Eldora, Iowa. Later the family moved to Grinnell and from there to Alton. In 1904 he married Mrs. Dena Baer, to which union two sons were born - Endor, of Alton, and John who died at the age of 10 years. He is survived by his invalid wife, his devoted son, and five step -children: Walter, of Springfield, Mo., Henry and Edward, both of El Paso, Tx., Lawrence, of Ivanhoe, Mn., and Mrs. Marion Schultz, of Minneapolis, Mn; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Van Nimwegen, of Alton, and Miss Mary, of Cherokee; two brothers, Dorris, and Case, both of Alton. One sister, Mrs. J. Aalders and one brother, Andrew, have passed on. Burial will be in Nassau cemetery."
