The requiem mass was sung by Rev. Foley at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church in Holyoke, Assisting Rev. Foley were Rev. Albert Puhl of Julesburg and Rev. Stein. The sermon was delivered by Rev. Puhl. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Mr. Kafka had not been in good health since being burned in an airplane accident in 1950. He was an enthusiastic member of the Colorado National Flying Farmers association and had owned his own plane since 1945. He took an active part in the activities of the association until failing health prevented him from attending many meetings. John Anton Kafka, son of Joseph and Mary Kafka, was born on a farm near Beemer, Nebraska on June 16, 1894. He lived at Beemer until 1920 when he came to Colorado and located on a farm southeast of Julesburg. On January 20, 1925 he was united in marriage at Julesburg with Edna L. Richardson of Julesburg. To this union three children wee born, John P. Kafka, Amherst, Mary Agnes, now Mrs. George A. Elder, Lamar, Nebraska, and James J. Kafka, Beemer, Nebraska. The Kafkas made their home southeast of Julesburg until 1930, when they moved to the present farm home 7 miles north and 1 1/2 miles east of Holyoke. Surviving are Mrs. Kafka and the three children already mentioned; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Huard and Mrs. Katherine Wehrer, both of Beemer, Nebraska; six grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Those from a distance who were here for services were: Mr. and Mrs. James J. Kafka and son, Michael, Mrs. Katherine Wehrer, Mrs. Mary Huard and Mrs. Helen Kafka, Beemer, Nebraska; Mrs. Leonard Leutzinger, Omaha, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Haddock and son and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Roberts, North Platte, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. John Hadfield, Neola, Iowa; Mrs. Laura Richardson, Julesburg; Edward Kafka, Columbus, Nebraska; Henry Kmoch, Leigh, Nebraska; and Cecil Richardson and Frank Holden, Denver.
