Description	:	John Baker Cleveland, lifelong resident of Cleveland, S.C., passed away on Jan. 5, 2003. Born May 31, 1915, at "Hilly Home" in Cleveland, S.C., to the late James Harvey Cleveland and Hazel Baker Cleveland, he attended the University of Georgia. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army in the Pacific. Afterwards, he worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C. for two years. Born May 31, 1915, at "Hilly Home" in Cleveland, S.C., to the late James Harvey Cleveland and Hazel Baker Cleveland, he attended the University of Georgia. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army in the Pacific. Afterwards, he worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C. for two years. Returning home to Cleveland, S.C., Mr. Cleveland worked for Sloan Construction Company for over 30 years. He served the Cleveland community in many ways including being one of the founders of Stroud Memorial Hospital in Marietta, S.C. He was a lifelong communicant of Christ Church Episcopal in Greenville. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth MacDonald Cleveland of the home. Also surviving are eight nieces and nephews, Virginia C. Walker "Ginny" of Columbia, S.C., J. H. Cleveland III "Buzz" of Greenville, S.C., J. B. Cleveland II "John" of Easley, S.C., Elizabeth L. Snell "Beth" of Columbia, S.C., Thomas C. Livingston "Tom" of New Bern, N.C., William MacDonald "Bill" of Georgetown, S.C., Margaret Elliot of Georgetown, S.C., and Nancy Hardee of Georgetown, S.C. He was predeceased by a brother, J. Harvey Cleveland Jr. of Easley, S.C. and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Livingston of New Bern, N.C. Services will be held at Christ Church Episcopal, Markley Chapel, on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. with the burial at the Cleveland Family Cemetery, Marietta, S.C. Pallbearers will be, Bryan L. Walker III, H. Cleveland Walker, J. Harvey Cleveland IV, J. Baker Cleveland III, J. Mason Snell, and J. William M. Cashion. Memorials may be made to Christ Church Episcopal, 10 N. Church Street, Greenville, SC 29601 or to the River Falls Fire Department, 602 River Falls Road, Marietta, SC 29661.
