He was a life-long member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wisner, NE. John attended Wisner Public Schools, graduating with the Wisner High School Class of 1935. John Baptist McGuire was born on February 21, 1918 to George F. and Delia (Gross) McGuire at Wisner, NE. He was a life-long member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wisner, NE. John attended Wisner Public Schools, graduating with the Wisner High School Class of 1935. On May 1, 1945, he was united in marriage to Berdine M. Kaup at St. Boniface Catholic Church-Monterey, rural West Point, NE. The couples farmed and were purebred hog breeders north of Wisner. In later years they moved into Wisner and for the last three years resided at the Elkhorn Valley Villas at Scribner. John has been a resident of the Wisner Care Center since the end of August of 2012. John was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and served on several committees promoting the swine industry from the local to the national level. John worked closely with his sons while they were showing hogs all across the country. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and at the time of his death was the oldest living member of the R.P. McGuire family. Collins, CO, Craig and Ann Recker of San Antonio, TX and family Scott Recker of Phoenix, AZ., Barb & Ted Taege of Lincoln, NE and family, Bruce & Shelley Recker of North Mankato, MN and family, Todd Raasch of Denver, CO., Tricia & Jeff Messmer of Weston Springs, SD and family, Chad Raasch of Bellevue, NE., Jeff Raasch of Minneapolis, MN., ., Jamie & Patrick Wilson of Omaha, NE., Adam & Kristie McGuire of Lincoln, NE., Jennifer Muhs & Mahmoud Abdalla of Berkeley Heights, NJ and children-Gigi, Selma & Noah Mitch & Melissa Muhs of Sidney, NE and children-Carson & Aiden Sisters- Mary Jo McGuire of Omaha, NE., Kathleen & Lew Frazier of St. Charles, MO., John was preceded in death by his parents-George & Delia McGuire, wife-Berdine McGuire, sons-Jim and Fred McGuire, brothers-Richard and wife Betty McGuire, William and wife Mary Ann McGuire, George McGuire, Jr., and sister-Rita Breen and husband Maurice.
