John Harrington was born March 22, 1934 in Dunlap to Bartel J. and Rosa (Helsel) Harrington. He died at his home in Omaha, Neb., after a battle with cancer on Thursday, January 29, 2004. John graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School in Dunlap. He served in the Korean War. On September 22, 1956 he was united in marriage to Virginia Evans, daughter of Elmo and Vera Evans. He owned and operated The Cavalier Barber Shop in Benson, Neb., for 47 years. John was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed fishing, camping and NASCAR races. He also was an active Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a member of St. Bernard's Church, Knights of Columbus and also a member of Omaha's VFW Post 2503. Preceding John in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Omaha, Neb.; three children, Michael and Jann Harrington, Mark and Judy Harrington, Gayle and Daniel Clark, all of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren, (all of Omaha) Beth, Alexandra Harrington, and Chris, Matt, Drew Clark; brother, George and his wife Betty of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sisters, Kathryn and husband Gerald Graeve of Omaha, Neb., Rosemary and husband Kenneth Stinn of Clinton, Okla.; cousin, Kenneth and wife Nova Dwyer of Dunlap; many other friends and relatives. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
