Read More	Nov. 3, 1943 Issue of Sigourney Review FATHER OF LOCAL WOMAN DIES Funeral services were held last Wednesday at the St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa for John Braunshausen, 84, father of Mrs. B. D. Helscher of Sigourney. He died October 24, at his home in Washington. Burial at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, in the Clear Creek community. Mr. Braunshausen, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Braunshausen, was born in Germany on April 22, 1859. He came to the United States when he was 16, locating in Keokuk County, Iowa. He married Elizabeth Baker. who died May 9. 1895. In 1902, he married Mrs. Augusta Foss, who died in March, 1919. He later married Mrs. Matilda Adrian, who survives him. He was a resident of the Talleyrand community in Keokuk County for a number of years and moved to Washington in 1920. Out-of-state persons attending the funeral, included his daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Ertzgaard of Omaha and Virginia Braunshausen of Minneapolis, Minn. and his step-sons, Raymond Foss of Louisville, Kentucky and Herbert Foss of Burbank, California. Survivors also include another daughter, Mrs. Jennings Torske of Rosemead, California, who was unable to attend the service, a brother, Mathias Braunshausen and a sister, Mrs. Peter Adrian, both of Pleasant Plain, Iowa, five grandchildren and a number of step-children. Mrs. Matilda (Rung) Adrian, daughter of Michael Rung and Katherina Heisdorffer, is buried in Keota Cemetery, beside her 1st husband.
