Description	:	John Broberg was born Lars Johan Bråberg. His parents were Lars Johan Larsson Bråberg and Ingjerd Andersdotter. He was born 14 Apr 1854 in Bråstorp, Tving parish, Blekinge läns, Sweden. His father's name was changed from Larsson to Bråberg when he became a krono batsman 'Royal Boatman'. He died of cholera before John's birth. So John was raised by his mother and four older sisters: Kerstin, Ingjerd, Elin and Heddvig Larsdotter. She was the widow of Carl Peter Svensson and had three sons Charles August, Frank Victor, and Albert Peter Carlsson. They changed their surname to Seth when they immigrated to America. John married Christina on Oct 19, 1878. They had a son Sven Johan Godtfrid Bråberg on Feb 17, 1880. Sven went by John Godtfred or J. G. Broberg in America. John and his stepson Charles immigrated in 1882 and Christina, Frank, Albert and J.G. followed the following year. Christina's brothers also immigrated and used the name Freburg in America. Christina was 19 years older than her second husband and was 44 when she gave birth to J.G. John was 25. John was only 11 years older than his stepson Charles. After Christina died Aug 6, 1891 at age 56, John Broberg married Anna Christine Peterson and had three more children, Mabel, Albert, and Esther Broberg. Mabel and Esther married brothers, Gus and Harry Nelson. So John had three stepsons Charles, Frank and Albert Seth. He had four children, John Godtfred 'J.G.', Mabel, Albert and Esther Broberg. John homesteaded in Phelps County and son Albert farmed the homestead until his retirement.
