Description	:	John is the only Byers of record buried in the older section of Augusta Stone Church Cemetery located across Highway 11 from the church behind the Manse in a high field and surrounded by a stone wall. His tombstone is engraved: "In Memoriam of JOHN BYERS Born Oct 11, 1829 Died Feb 8 1853 Rest Dear John Rest. Thy suffering time is o'er. You now are happy with the blest across the Jordan's shore." However, his death record reported by his parents, whose names are given, states his age as 22 years 8 months which would calculate to... However, his death record reported by his parents, whose names are given, states his age as 22 years 8 months which would calculate to a birthdate of June 1830. Mrs. C. F. Rudolph of Washington, DC., while recording a barely legible, very old gravestone in 1953 mistook the 9 in his death year for a 5 and, perhaps, grieving relatives miscalculated his age at his untimely death. He was a farmer and unmarried.
