He was born Dec. 15, 1888, near Milford, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Burkey. On June 4, 1911, he married Elma Troyer. Two sons, Melvin and Floyd, and one daughter, Dorothy, were born to this union. He is survived by his wife, Sarah; three sons, Floyd of Milford, Willis of Phoenix, AZ, Loyal of Beaver Crossing; daughter, Esther (Nisly) of Independence, Oregon; seven brothers: William, Arthur, Ed, Lester, and Elmer, all of Milford; Ray of Crete; and Ervin of Chadron; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Hosteler of Milford and Mrs. Ivan Hosteler of Albany, Oregon; 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Three children preceded him in death.
