Read More	JOHN THOMSEN DIES OF WOUND AT A HOSPITAL Pleasant Valley Farmer Loses Fight for Life John Thomsen, Pleasant Valley farmer who shot himself with suicidal intent last Saturday, died Tuesday afternoon at 3:40 at a local hospital. When he was brought to Fremont Saturday evening he was in such a serious condition that it was believed he would not last the night through. He had a gaping wound in his right ear where the 32 calibre bullet entered his head to lodge between the skull and the brain. He survived Monday and seemed to to be much better Tuesday morning but had a sinking spell in the afternoon. John Thomsen was born in Germany and came to this county at the age of 8 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thomsen. They settled in Omaha and in 1869 came to Dodge county and took a homestead in Pleasant Valley township. Here the family was reared and when old enough John Thomsen started farming for himself and at the time of his death owned over 200 acres of fine farm land. He was married 45 years ago to Minnie Winkleman, of the vicinity. They reared a family of seven children. Five years ago Mrs. Thomsen's health broke and she has been confined in a sanitarium most of the time for several years. The condition of his wife's health was a great worry and he brooded over it considerably. His act is attributed to to this cause. Mr. Thomsen has been retired from active farm management for several years. His homestead is located just 11 miles from the towns of North Bend and Dodge. The farm is managed by his son. The farm is managed by his son, August, and he made his home with the family. He was a member of the Lutheran church located in the country nearby his home. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made. John Thomsen is survived by seven grown sons and daughters all living in Dodge county in the vicinity of North Bend. They are Erenst, Amiel, Anna Roy, Maggie, August and Lester. There are also four brothers, Henry of Fremont; Amiel, Pleasant Valley; Anders, Cedar Creek and Ban of Brunswick. His mother, Mrs. Henry Thomsen, is still living at the age of 95 and is hale and hearty for one of her age. She makes her home with her son Ban of Brunswick.
