He was married to Miss Julia Scheer on June 14, 1892 at Council Bluffs, Iowa, by C.W. Brewer of that place. There nine children born to them, seven daughters and two sons. Two daughters died in infancy, one daughter, Nina Frances died Nov. 13, 1914 at the age of 21 years and 3 months. One son, Frederick LeRoy died July 22, 1918, at the age of 20 years, 9 months. The four daughters living are: Mrs. Ernest Kaub, 530 Mulberry street, Ottawa, Kan.; Misses Elsie, Evelyn, and Mildred L. Mulvany, and the son, Mark C. Mulvany, residing with their widowed mother at the home place, R.F.D. No. 8, Ottawa, Kan. There are also two grandsons living, Elroy J., and Frank E. (Frank C.) Kaub. The deceased was sick only a few days, and died at Community hospital of septic peritonitis, at 1:00 a.m., Dec. 9, 1923, at the age of 52 years, 3 months, 21 days. Being a well known farmer, living seven miles northeast of Ottawa, his funeral was the largest ever held at the Tauy Baptist church of which he was a member. The pastor was assisted by Rev. H. A Manewal, a special friend of the deceased. He offered prayer and sang a special hymn, "No Night There." The text used for the funeral sermon was Rev. 21-25. His pastor was with Brother Mulvany during the closing hours of life and many were the expressions of resignation to the will of God and victory through faith in Jesus while he was nearing the border of the spirit world. His was a tempestuous voyage over life's ocean but his Saviour piloted him safely into the harbor of the celestial city and mingling as he did his "good-by" to those he loved whom he left behind with his songs of victory and expressions of deep consolation and praise to his Saviour-pilot, John Calvin Mulvany entered the quiet harbor of eternal rest where we hope to greet him in the morning of that day that shall have no sunset. Many tokens of Christian sympathy were rendered to the family by the church and citizens. Thus, on Tuesday the 11th day of Dec., 1923, at 2:30 p.m., we laid his body to rest in Stony Point cemetery near Baldwin, Kans., to await the call of God in the resurrection from the dead. Let us confidently expect to meet him in the first call for over such the second death shall have no power. - Rev. J.A. Beltz.
