Description	:	John C. Wren, 71 years of age died Sunday morning at his home two miles north (south) of Winamac. For a long period Mr. Wren has suffered from dropsy and heart trouble and this combined with his age was the cause of his death. Mr. Wren is widely known throughout Pulaski County having spent a good portion of his life in this county ,and was formerly a resident of Francesville. Wren, 71 years of age died Sunday morning at his home two miles north (south) of Winamac. For a long period Mr. Wren has suffered from dropsy and heart trouble and this combined with his age was the cause of his death. Mr. Wren is widely known throughout Pulaski County having spent a good portion of his life in this county ,and was formerly a resident of Francesville. The deceased served three successive terms as County Commissioner of Pulaski County a number of years ago, and has been prominent in other progressive steps in the county. His death came not as a shock to his friends and relatives but he will be mourned by a multitude of people. For many years the deceased has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Funeral services were held from the Wren home yesterday morning at 10:30, the Rev. Rogers of the M. E. church of Winamac being in charge. The body was brought to Francesville where interment was made in the Francesville Cemetery. Many beautiful flowers were in evidence. The deceased is survived by five children by a former marriage and a wife. They are: Mrs. John C. Wren of Winamac, sons, James of Melvin, Ill., Wm. E. of LaPorte, Ind., U. B. of Winamac, daughters, Mrs. Frank Lowry of Francesville and Mrs. Milton Hall of Monon; all of whom were present at the funeral and burial. A nephew, Marshall Wood from Salem, Ind. was an attendant at the funeral. Francesville Tribune 11 Oct 1923 Note: Ren & Wren are different spellings of the same family. Obit says John Wren died at his home 2 miles north of town. His home was about 2 miles south of the town of Winamac on the River Road which is in Monroe Township, Pulaski County. The former wife mentioned in the obit was his first wife, Harriet Eunice (Harrell) Wren.
