Read More	Feb 10, 1916 - Carroll times - John Corey, a pioneer resident of Greene county, passed away at his home in Churdan Monday morning. He was born in Tipperary, Ireland, in 1839, and emigrated to a point near London, Canada, when he was seven years old. He was married to Ellen Ryan at London in 1862, and a few years later moved to Cedar township, in Greene county, and has lived on the same farm for forty years. He was an industrious, careful man, and he and his family paid for more than a section of Greene county land. He was a strictly temperate man, remembering the promise made to his mother in childhood, and by his honesty and fair dealing made for himself a host of friends in this section of the state. Mrs. T.J. Ryan, of this city, was his youngest child, and she and Mr. Ryan left Monday for Churdan to attend the funeral, which was held yesterday morning at 9:30. Burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery in Greene county.
