Henrich, a resident of Alton since 1910, passed on at his home here Sunday evening, September 9th, at the age of nearly 59 years. He had been in ill health for a long time and early in May went to the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis where he remained until August 1st. After his discharge from the hospital he returned home and for the past few weeks was confined to his bed. An emergency Red Cross call to his son, Pvt. Bob Henrich, at Pusan, Korea, brought the young man home by plane in a weeks time and he arrived Saturday in time to see and talk to his father. John Charles Henrich, known to his friends as “Jack” was born at Woodstock, Minnesota, October 6, 1892, on a farm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mathias Henrich. In 1910 the family moved to Alton, January 30, 1928, he married Miss Dolorosa Eulberg, who survives him together with three daughters and one son, namely Robert John, now at home on leave; Estelle, teaching at Castana, Iowa; Delores of Sioux City, and Rosemary at home. He is also survived by two brothers, Joe and Emil of Minneapolis. He is a veteran of World War I, and member of the local post of the American Legion and of St. Mary’s Church, where services were held on Wednesday morning. Burial was in the parish cemetery. After coming to Alton, Mr. Henrich sold nursery stock for Plumfield Nurseries of Fremont, Nebraska, and later for some years was salesman for Independent Remedies owned by the late John List. He then opened his own office for farm livestock remedies and supplies, which he operated until incapacitated by illness. He was a man of strong convictions to which he was always loyal, strictly an “individualist.” Handicapped by lack of a formal education, he educated himself by reading and study, and saw that his children had a high school education. All are a credit to him and his faithful helpmate. The family has the sympathy of a host of friends.
