Description	:	John Subbert, one of the early settlers of the county, died at the home of his , George Subbert, of Lidderdale, Sunday night, March 4, at 11 o'clock. he had been ailing for some time and was bedfast for the last five weeks. Death was due to hardening of the arteries. John Charles Subbert was born at Karo, Mecklenburg, Germany, April 21, 1847, and came to America in 1873, at the age of 26 years. he located in Will county, Illinois, and the following year, in 1874, was united in marriage to Anna Lange. In 1881 they moved to Carroll county, which was the family home until 1903 when Mrs. Subbert died. After the death of his wife he made his home with his children, dividing the time between his sons in this county and his son at Fairmont, Minn. Shortly after returning from Fairmont, in the fall, he began to ail and was not in good health for several months. Mr. Subbert was raised a Lutheran and was a member of the Lutheran church at Lidderdale for 45 years. He was one of the ambitious, sincere, honest men who wrestled with the early problems of pioneer life and helped make the county the prosperous place it is today. Surviving Mr. Subbert are four sons: Charles Subbert of Lidderdale; John Subbert of Lidderdale; George Subbert of Lidderdale, and Henry Subbert of Farimont, Minn. One daughter died in childhood and a son, Frank, died about 10 years ago of the flu. Mr. Subbert is also survived by a brother, Joe Subbert, of Lidderdale, nine grandchildren, and many other relatives. Funeral services are being held this afternoon, March 7, at 1:30 o'clock, at Lidderdale. Short services will be held at the home of his son, Charles Subbert; this will be followed by services at the Lutheran church at Lidderdale. burial will be made in the Lutheran cemetery. Rev.
