Description	:	John “Chet” Baughman, age 88 of Chauncey, died Thursday morning, Aug. 13, 2015 at Kimes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Athens. Born Feb. 14, 1927 in Chauncey, he was the son of the late Virgil Baughman and Winnie Elliott Baughman Sprague and his step father, Dr. Warren Sprague. A graduate of Chauncey Dover High School, he retired from McBee Corp. He also operated Baughman Variety Store for many years in Chauncey. Read More	John “Chet” Baughman, age 88 of Chauncey, died Thursday morning, Aug. 13, 2015 at Kimes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Athens. Born Feb. 14, 1927 in Chauncey, he was the son of the late Virgil Baughman and Winnie Elliott Baughman Sprague and his step father, Dr. Warren Sprague. A graduate of Chauncey Dover High School, he retired from McBee Corp. He also operated Baughman Variety Store for many years in Chauncey. He enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening (both flowers and vegetables) and camping. He was a “kid at heart” with jokes and his love of Christmas. He was also a hobbyist with movie cameras, beginning with 16mm to digital video tape. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre in Italy. John is survived by two daughters- Lisa Christian of Athens and Mary Anna (John) Riley of Bryan, Texas; three sons- John (Becky) Baughman of Mentor, Fred (Heather) Baughman of Baltimore, Ohio, and Larry (Kaisha) Baughman of Navasota, Texas; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; a half sister, Ramona Desermia of Encino, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Besides his parents and step father, he is preceded in death by a son in law, Roger Christian; two sisters and brother in law, Bessie & Al Oliviere and Mary Louise & Charles Leffler. Funeral service will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with James Clegg and Pastor Bert Christian officiating. Burial will be in West Union St. Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call Sunday 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, VFW Post 3477 and VFW Post 9893 Honor Guards at the cemetery.
