Description	:	John Christian Nelsen, son of Nels and Gertrude Nelsen, was born in Denmark on August 26, 1856, and passed away at Genoa on December 21, 1943 at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 5 days. He was married to Caroline M. Olson in Denmark in the year 1877 and came to America in 1888. Margaret in infancy, Mary in 1936 and Pete in 194l After his wife's death, Mr. Nelsen was married to Mrs. Christina Rasmussen in 1907. She passed away in March 1939. Mr. Nelsen is survived by two daughter and nine sons: Mrs. E. O. Stone of York; Mrs. Lena Burdick of Portland; Charley of Genoa,; Andrew and Ole, of Potter; Nels and John of Ord; Otto, Albert and William of St. Edward; Chester of Bridgeport; and two stepchildren, Mrs. Anna Jensen and Carl Rasmussen of California. Also surviving him are sixty-six grandchildren, ninety-two great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at two o'clock Sunay afternoon with Rev. Paul Neel officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Bethany cemetery northeast of St. Edward and carried to its last resting place by six grandsons.
