Description	:	John C. Barta, 89, a longtime resident of Wenatchee, passed away Friday, June 13, 2003, at Parkside Care Center. John was born March 17, 1914, to John F. and Anna (Dvorak) Barta in Crosby, N.D. His family lived in Minnesota and Montana before moving to South Wenatchee in 1922. He continued his education here, graduating from Wenatchee High School in 1933. On Nov. 6, 1938, John married Mary I. Schoechert in Wenatchee. John was employed by the Chelan County garage from 1935 until 1946 and later was a counterman for several auto parts stores and dealerships. He retired as parts manager from Reichert Datsun in April 1980. John was an active member of the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activities Center and the Wenatchee Eagles and Elks lodges. He enjoyed playing pool and darts as well as traveling. He was an expert craftsman who could build and repair most anything. John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John O. and Linda Barta of Wenatchee; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Brian Sand of Spokane; a nephew, William Flink of Wenatchee; and two nieces, Angeline Hamilton of Spokane, and Delores Jacobs of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in November 1991; his parents; two brothers and three sisters. At the family's request, there will be no services or viewing. Private inurnment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Wenatchee Valley Senior Activities Center. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
