John Clement Goodall was born August 29, 1923 at DeWitt, Iowa, to Mary (McManus) and Charles C. Goodall. He was graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School at DeWitt. Goodall. He was graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School at DeWitt. On August 6, 1955, Clem was united in marriage to Phyllis Pollock in St. Cecilia Catholic Church at Ames, IA. The couple farmed at rural DeWitt, until retirement in 1999. Clem was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved his family and farming dearly. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Phyllis; children, Robert (Terry) Goodall of DeWitt, Debora Goodall and Cathleen (Mark) Carton of Davenport, James (Lynn) Goodall and Thomas (Laura) Goodall of DeWitt, and Patricia (Bill) Urmie of Bennett; grandchildren, Curtis Goodall, Kimberly Carton, Andrew (Jessica) Goodall, Christopher Carton, Hillary (Derek) Mosier, Tyler Goodall, Benjamin Carton, Kaitlin Goodall, Megan Goodall, Adam Goodall, Rita Urmie and Keith Urmie; a great-granddaughter, Ella Claire Goodall; nieces and nephews. Preceding Clem in death were his parents, a sister, Helen Matson and brother, Charles Raymond Goodall. The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011 with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2011 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, with the Rev. Fr. Paul Connolly presiding. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
