Description	:	John Clemmons Sr. was the first burial in this cemetery. He was born in Tazewell County, Virginia in 1771 where he lived and grew into manhood. He then went to Tennessee where he became acquainted with Andrew Jackson. While a resident of Tennessee, he married Miss Phoebe Travis. He later moved to Jackson County, Ohio where he resided some twenty years. He moved west and located in Cass County, Nebraska. He lived with his son Capt. John Clemmons on the farm west of Rock Buff where he died on March 20, 1855. He is said to be the first white citizen... Read More	John Clemmons Sr. was the first burial in this cemetery. He was born in Tazewell County, Virginia in 1771 where he lived and grew into manhood. He then went to Tennessee where he became acquainted with Andrew Jackson. There were no other cemeteries in the vicinity at that time, his body was therefore laid to rest in a quite spot on the home farm, and that was the beginning of the Clemmons Cemetery.
