The young family was found living near Scottsbluff,Nebraska in 1851,where John was Baptized by Fr.Pierre DeSmet,Sept 23,1851,who recorded his Baptism in his journals,he also recorded John's Birth date along with his sponsor being his father Chas Cordier.According to the Book "The Teepee and Church,The Travels of Fr Pierre DeSmet"page 25,second column,Complied by Margie Sobotka. In 1860 John age 9 years, the family settled into Clay County South Dakota, with land alloted near the Missouri riverbanks. In 1870 John age 20 is listed living with his father,Step Mother Theresa and Siblings,Charles jr. 17,Adele 15,Alex 10,and half siblings,Angeline 3yrs,and Joseph 1yr. In abt 1874 John married his first wife out of three, Mary Guerue, they had 4 children,Charles jr,James,(who both died in Infancy) Rose E,(Rueben WolfSetter)and John jr.(Fanny Red Weasel).John and Mary Guerue Divorced in abt 1881. John then Married Louise Schmidt,Halfbreed Cheyenne maiden, bearing 5 more children,Joseph O(Annie/Amelia Prue),Emma(Wright),Mary(Red Owl),and William and Nellie(who died in childhood). Louise died 1893 age 33. John remarried Josephine Garneau, and had 4 children,Alfred,died at 1yr,Annie died at 3 yrs, Corrine(Levi Prue),and Frank(Virginia Bordeaux). John died in Aug 8,1938, followed by his wife Josephine a month later..They were buried at St Charles Cemetery,St.Francis,South Dakota
