Description	:	John C. Hunter was the son of Nathan Jr. and Susannah H. Cureton Hunter. His paternal grandparents were Nathan Hunter, Sr. b. abt 1743 in Ireland d. 16 June 1827 in ,,Newberry, S.C. and Mary Young Hunter b. Aug 1744 in Ireland d. 01 Oct 1828 in ,, Newberry, S.C. His parents and grandparents are buried in the Prosperity Cemetery in Prosperity, Newberry, S.C. He married Rosannah Young on 26 Nov 1840 in ,,Newberry, South Carolina. He married Rosannah Young on 26 Nov 1840 in ,,Newberry, South Carolina. They had at the following children: Thompson Young Hunter b. 09 Nov 1841; Abigail Hunter b. 11 Mar 1843; Nathan H. Hunter b.16 June 1845; Willaim Marcus Hunter b.13 Oct 1847; James J. Hunter b. 02 dec 1849; Wesley T. Hunter b. 16 June 1852 and Leonaora Hunter b. 18 Aug 1858. According to Bruce H. Willhoit, their son, Nathan Hunter was wounded in a skirmish at the St. Mary's Bridge during the Civil War. He was hid in the underbrush by fellow rebels and later found by the Frazier Family who hid him in their corn crib due to Union Troops still being in the area. Nathan died and was buried on the Frazier property. Nathan's father, John C. Hunter was contacted and went and dug Nathan's body up and had him buried in the Bethel Church Cemetery. Due to the winter being very cold and the distance John had to travel to get past the Union Army, John caught pneumonia which he never recovered from. He died a few weeks later, and was buried beside his son.
