| Description | : | John Currence immigrated in 1775 from Pennsylvania to York District, SC, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and was one of the heroes of the Battle of King's Mountain. He married Elenor Patterson, daughter of John Patterson (d. 1795) about 1776. They had the following known children: 1. William Currence (1777-1847) 2. Hugh Currence (1779-1854) 3. Daniel Shaw Currence (1781-1871) 4. Margaret Currence, who married James Wood. 5. Mary Currence, who married Samuel Hemphill 6.
