He died at 6:45 Tuesday morning from the injuries received. Bryant, who was admitted to the hospital July 4 for observation, it being believed he was suffering from a mental derangement, eluded hospital attendants and plunged from the window of a waiting room on the second floor, landing on the canopy over the rear entrance of the first floor. Bryant was born in Kentucky March 2, 1880. When eight months old he was brought to Iowa by his parents, who made their home in the Zearing and St Anthony neighborhoods. He was married in 1916 to Mrs Ethel Bryant at Rochester, Minnesota. He is survived by his divorced wife and a son Day, of Marshalltown; three sisters and a brother. July 16, 1931 State Center Enterprise. The funeral of John Bryant was held at the Christian Church Thursday afternoon in charge of Rev Forrest Richeson. The pall bearers were Frank and William Lyons, Raymond and Artie Drew, Merle McCormick and Floyd Irvin. Music was furnished by Mrs Myrta McCormick, Mrs B B Dunn, F G Meekins and C P Lindquist with Mrs F G Meekins at the piano. Relatives from a distance in attendance were Mr and Mrs Frank Hanson and family of Fargo, North Dakota, mrs Martha Dillon and family and Mr and Mrs Morgan Olson and family of McCallsburg, Mrs Ethel Esson and son Day, Mr and Mrs Donald Bishop, Vernie Bryant and Vilda Olson of Marshalltown, Mr and Mrs Charles Bryant of Illinois Grove, Mr and Mrs Ralph Stewart and Bert Stewart of State Center, Mr and Mrs F J Buchan of Eldora, Mr and Mrs R L Bryant and Mr and Mrs Fred Stewart of Clemons and Mr and Mrs E L Bryant of Zearing. Burial was in the Zearing Cemetery. July 23, 1931 State Center Enterprise.
