Burma Passes Away Tuesday; Services on Friday John Burma passed away at his home, 505 First Ave., Tuesday morning. He had been ill for the past three years with multiple sclerosis. The son of Dick and Johanna Borchers Burma, he was born in Franklin county May 15, 1895, and lived his entire life in this vicinity. On Feb. 23, 1927, he and Emma Marie Essman were married, and they made their home on a farm northeast of Ackley until they retired because of his poor health and moved to Ackley in January 1955. Mr. Burma, had been a member of the Washington Reformed church since 1918 and had taken an active part in its work as long as his health permitted. Surviving are his wife; his daughter, Dorothy; two brothers, Dick and Will, both of Ackley; two sisters, Gertie, (Mrs. Will Warneke) of Webster City, and Tena, (Mrs. John Ibeling) of Ackley; an aunt, Mrs. B. M. Meinders of Aplington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Everett and his sister Minnie (Mrs. Henry Brower.) Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Washington Reformed Church with the Rev. R. J. Rozeboom officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Reformed church cemetery.
