Description	:	John D. Cloyd, 63, of Cozad, Neb., died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Camanche, Iowa. John was born June 30, 1947, at Gothenburg, Neb., to Donald and Betty (Rasmussen) Cloyd. Survivors are: his mother, Betty Baker of Cozad; brother, Donn Cloyd of Cozad; sister, Denise Miller of Queen Creek, Ariz.; special friend, Carole Frazier of Cozad; special uncle, Ralph Rasmussen; and many other relatives and friends. John was born June 30, 1947, at Gothenburg, Neb., to Donald and Betty (Rasmussen) Cloyd. Survivors are: his mother, Betty Baker of Cozad; brother, Donn Cloyd of Cozad; sister, Denise Miller of Queen Creek, Ariz.; special friend, Carole Frazier of Cozad; special uncle, Ralph Rasmussen; and many other relatives and friends. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1965. Following graduation, John attended Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte. While in college, John worked for the railroad and spent two years in the National Guard. He entered the U.S. Navy in the late 1960s and served for two years. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Oregon, where he worked as a logger for several years. John later began driving trucks with a lumber company, a profession that he continued until his death. He was a member of the NRA. He also loved collecting guns, scuba diving and collecting coins. He was very devoted to his work and worked extremely hard at everything he did. When his work was done, he most enjoyed spending time with his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, Don in 1984; baby sister, Deanna; his grandparents; and his stepfather, Jess "Curly" Baker. Published in the Kearney Hub on 7/16/2010
