Description	:	John D. Reitz, 89, of Pleasanton died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at his home in Pleasanton. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Father Marty Egging will officiate and burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pleasanton. He was born December 29, 1923 in Hardy, NE to George and Anna (Wagner) Reitz. He graduated from Chester High School in 1942 then entered the U.S. Navy where he served until 1962. On February 3, 1949 he married Eunice Geisler in Pleasanton. The couple lived in various locations while John served in the Navy. After retirement from the Navy John attended Southeast Community College in Milford, NE then they moved to Pleasanton in 1964. He did construction work for several years then worked for Rockwell International in Kearney for 20 years until retiring. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pleasanton. John's hobbies included painting, woodworking and taking care of his yard and animals. He was skilled in that he could find a way to fix anything. He will be especially remembered for his kindness and generosity to his family and his willingness to help others. Surviving relatives include his wife of Pleasanton, daughter; Anne-Marie Dale and husband Merle Gifford, of Pleasanton, NE, grandchildren; Aaron Matuschka of Kearney and Kish and wife Marci Dale of Pleasanton and great grandchildren; Shayla and Saige Keim of Pleasanton, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; George and Albert, sisters; Henrietta Fischer, Lena Doan, Marie Hussey, Edna Ross Miller, Clara Yost and Frieda Ready.
