Death of John Darrah - Mr. John Darrah, a gentleman well known in business circles in this section of country, died at his residence, a few miles West of Bridgeport, on Saturday morning last, and was buried in the Presbyterian cemetery of this place on Sunday afternoon. Mr. Darrah had been sick only about two weeks. His disease was inflammatory rheumatism. Mr. Darrah was possessed of considerable shrewdness and business tact. He commenced business in St. Clairsville, as a butcher, some 15 or 20 years ago, but several years later quite that and went into buying cattle at Chicago and shipping East. About two years ago he bought the farm on which he died, and retired from active business pursuits. We presume he was worth about $20,000. It was John Darrah's pluck and energy that established the First National Bank of St. Clairsville, in which he was one of the heaviest stockholders and a Director until about one year ago. Private John Darrah served in Co D, 83rd Ohio Infantry during the Civil War. He enlisted on 6 Aug 1862 and served until he was mustered out on 24 Jul 1865.
