John married Sandra Sue Staats on February 2, 1963. A 1953 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. John worked at Lagomarcino, Tones Spice Co. and retired July 13, 1998 from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Davis St. Christian Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nada Cox. Limited open visitation for friends will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 17th at Reece Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.rfh-ia.com. Private funeral services will be at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. James H. Wakelin officiating. For those not able to attend the service, you may watch the service live at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 18th from the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society.
