John David Maze was born on December 6, 1934, in Carroll, Iowa, the son of George and Gladys (Meeker) Maze. He was one of eight boys. John David Maze was born on December 6, 1934, in Carroll, Iowa, the son of George and Gladys (Meeker) Maze. He was one of eight boys. John shared his childhood with his family of seven brothers on their farm at Carroll. He graduated from Carroll Public High School Class of 1953, and served four years in the United States Air Force. With an honorable discharge, he returned home to Carroll, Iowa. He was a hard-working employee for the City Parks Administration for many years. He retired to Steamboat Rock to help his mother, as well as many neighbors, with their lawn care, gardening, and snow removal, never accepting anything more than a thank-you, or perhaps a cookie. John was a practical, quiet, hark-working man, who is, and will be, greatly missed. John is survived by his brothers George Maze, Ted Maze, Donald Maze, Richard Maze, and Glenn Maze.
