July ll, 1991, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born Aug. 24, 1901, in Foster to John W. and Emma Harris Dawson. He married Edith Bennett June 6, 1927, in Albia; she died May I, 1940. He married Edna Keasling Aug. 6, 1949, in Galesburg, Ill.; she died May 30, 1987. A resident of Ottumwa most of his life he was an employee of John Deere Ottumwa Works for 26 years, retiring in 1974. He is survived by two sons, Harold of Linden, N J., and Darrell of Nashville, Tenn.; three daughters, Lucille Proctor of Danville, Va., Marjorie Morgan of Corona Dell Mar, Calif., and Mary Yeager of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Dawson of Ottumwa and two sisters, Elizabeth Ross of Ottumwa Route 5 and Mildred Fairchild of Marion. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Pierce. The service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. A. D. Pringle officiating. Burial will be Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa. Visitation is open. Pallbearers will be Dave Handling, Chad Collett, Tim Yeager, Billy Williams and Dennis Cook. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
