Description	:	John Donald McMillan was born on the 12 May 1852 on the farm 24.4 Lochiel, Glengarry County, Ontario, Canada to Donald and Angelique Elizabeth MALETTE McMillan. He married a widow, Christy Charlotte MCMILLAN McMillan, on 23rd of May 1876 in Glengarry County. Their only child, Elizabeth, was born in 1876 and died a year later from diphtheria. Christy died in 1880 from consumption (tuberculosis). He emigrated to Brookings County, Dakota Territory in 1880 with his brother, Duncan, and his cousin, Archie. John never built on his homestead site. He married Ellen VAN HORN Kelly, a widow, on the 30th of May 1882 in Brookings County. They lived on her homestead site in Alton Township, Brookings County. Together they had seven children before divorcing in 1898. He married Eva May WEST Burnham, widow, on 28th of April 1900 in White, Brookings County, South Dakota. Together they had two children. They lived on the homestead site of Ellen's, that John acquired from the divorce, until he built a new home two miles straight west. He and Eva lived there until his death on the 19th of December 1928. John is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his first two wives, and three of his ten children: Elizabeth, Christine Charlotte Flanagan, and Donald John.
