Born in Dundee, Scotland on December 10, 1921, he was a son of the late John and Jennie (Minto) Monks. John is survived by his wife, Annie; five sons, John Jr. of Chester, Nova Scotia, Blois and his companion, Jennie Hamilton of St. George, Dale of Kamloops, BC, Angus and his wife Janice of Letang and Bradley of Lake Utopia, two daughters; Joy, Mrs. Peter Bond of Chester, NS and Brenda, Mrs. Robert Melanson of Back Bay, seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister; Jean, Mrs. Edward Lyons of England, several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one grandson, Shawn and one brother, Bill. John was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the R.A.F. Overseas in Great Britain. He was stationed in Pennfield under the R.C.A.F. as a Training Officer. John was a member of Seaview Full Gospel Church in Back Bay. He loved the outdoors, especially gardening and hunting. Resting at Seaview Full Gospel Church in Back Bay from where the service will be held on Friday at 2pm. Interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the Church on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. St. George Legion Branch No. 40, will conduct their Tribute Service at the Church on Thursday at 7pm. Remembrances to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
