Description	:	John Dwight Wiant was always known by his middle name. In 1915, Dwight married Gladys Myers, the daughter of one of the owners then of Robbins & Myers Co, Springfield. His father performed the ceremony. To them were born four sons. After two years of college at Wittenberg University, and farming, Dwight felt the call to the ministry and was ordained a Methodist preacher in 1923 at Springfield. His father performed the ceremony. To them were born four sons. After two years of college at Wittenberg University, and farming, Dwight felt the call to the ministry and was ordained a Methodist preacher in 1923 at Springfield. However he was forced to quit the ministry in 1935 when growths on his vocal cords were removed (non-malignant). Nevertheless, he remained active in church work. Next he became manager of a gas station in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, where he had last preached. Then, for eight years he and Gladys were in charge of a cottage of boys at the Boys Industrial School, a correctional institution, at Lancaster Ohio, where they tried to rehabilitate boys in their charge. Dwight was an avid fisherman and in later years enjoyed going to Michigan in the summers and Florida in the winters. Dwight and Gladys lived during retirement in their Mechanicsburg home, where Gladys continued to do custom quilting even after Dwight's death. Each of her children has one of her famous and beautiful quilts. During their retirement Dwight and Gladys were fortunate to have most of their children and grandchildren living close to where they themselves had lived for 33 years. In 1965 he and Gladys celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise dinner party given by their sons in a private dining room at Logan, Ohio, their son Homer's home town.
