Mr. Christie is survived by his widow, Mattie and the following children: Mrs. A.L. Spears of Birmingham, Ala., Fay Christie of Centerville, Ray Christie of El Paso, Tex., Mrs. Jessie Robertson of Moravia and Miss Mae Christie of Des Moines. Mr. Christie served a term as constable under the late Justice Fred H. Wilcox and again two years under J.H. Cremer, at present a justice of the peace in this township. During the interim he operated a motor bus at the Frazier depot. He had one of the last of the old-fashioned hack lines that pulled between the station and the Ballingall hotel. Mr. Chritie was 60 years old. He was re-elected to serve with Mr. Cremer during the present tenure of office, but did not qualify on account of poor health. _________________ Funeral Notice. Source: OTTUMWA COURIER, Oct. 17, 1921. J.E. CHRISTIE BURIED YESTERDAY "The funeral of John E. Christie was held from the home, 518 East Finley avenue, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Edward Purdy, pastor of the Davis Street Christian church, conducted the services. Burial was made in Shaul cemetery. A large number of friends gathered to pay their last respects. Those in attendance from out of the city were Mrs. Jess Robertson of Moravia and Miss Mae Christie of Des Moines, daughters of the deceased, a son, Fay Christie of Centerville; a brother, Frank Christie, and Mrs. Christie of Oskaloosa; two sister, Mrs. H.O. Sawyers and Mrs. J.D. Johnston; Mr. Sawyer(s) and Mr. Johnston, the Allen Miller family of near Blakesburg, Mac Wise, Edward Wise, Miss Lizzie Wise and James Dunn, cousins of Mr. Christie from Bloomfield."
