He was attended by five physicians, but none of them could save his life. The funeral took place from his late residence on Sunday, the 19th. The internment was at Shawsville Cemetery. The funeral which was one of the largest ever held at this place was conducted by Rev. Jacob E. Jones of New market. The pallbearers were John Rutledge, Thomas Jobnon, Smith Bond, Wiley Mursteller, William Whitcraft and William Enfield. The choir from the ME Church New Market attended the funeral. Mr. George Hartenstein of New Freedom, was the undertaker. The deceased leaves a wife and nine children. Mr. Houston was well-known in Harford County. He lived from childhood near this place and removed to the hotel at New Market last April. He had been confined to bed for about eight months and bore his suffering with great resignation. July 14 1893
