Kander age 88 of rural Clarkson, NE will be held on Monday, Decembery 21, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner with Pastor Terry Makelin of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger officiating. Interment will be in the Pilger Cemetery with Military Honors by Stanton V.F.W. Post #3302. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m., at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. John passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah, NE. John Elmer Kander was born on May 22, 1927 at Clarkson, NE to Elmer and Antonia (Bohaboj) Kander. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Howells, NE. John attended Stanton County Rural School through the 8th grade. He helped farm with his father prior to serving in the United States Army. John entered the Army on February 28, 1946 and was honorably discharged on April 5, 1967. John returned home to farm and on February 8, 1949 was united in marriage to Erma Olga Hansen at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Howells, NE. John and Erma farmed and fed cattle in Stanton County until 2012, when they became residents of the Golden Living Center in Tekamah, NE. John was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pilger, where he had served as a trustee. He was a member of Stanton American Legion Post #88 and had served on the Board of Directors for the Farmers Union Coop in Clarkson, NE. Survivors include- Children and their families- Ervin and wife Vanita Kander of Clarkson, NE Eugene and wife Patti Kander of Stanton, NE and family Ryan and Brandi Kander and children Gage, Tabitha & Chloe Holly and Kyle Bettilylon and children Terry & Tyler Michael Kander Donna and husband Don Knapp of Madison, NE and family Rodney and Samantha Knapp and son Kameron Jennifer and Jo-E Morrison and children Jo-C & Ainsley Eldon and wife Tammie Kander of Tekamah, NE and family Sara and PJ Nicola and children Blaine & Melanie Monica Lorenzen and Shawn Stoley and children Carter, Mya, Micah & Skyler Angelica and Jesse Lupton and children Abram & Vanessa Kelly Marie and Joe Gray and daughter Jersey Erica Kander Brother-Robert Kander of Stanton, NE Sisters-Rosemary Kumm of Stanton, NE Evelyn Coufal of Howells, NE JoAnn and Milton Schwartz of Howells, NE Carolyn Tutin of Moorhead , MN John was preceded in death by his parents, wife- Erma on July 9, 2012, great granddaughter in infancy-Emory Lupton, and a brother-Edwin Kander."
