Description	:	John Everett Taylor, 75, passed away Oct. 13, 2012, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. John was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Cashmere, Wash., to John H. and Edith (Lewis) Taylor. Shortly after he was born they moved to Columbia Falls. From there they moved to Evergreen, and then in 1952 moved to Kalispell. John was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Cashmere, Wash., to John H. and Edith (Lewis) Taylor. Shortly after he was born they moved to Columbia Falls. From there they moved to Evergreen, and then in 1952 moved to Kalispell. Upon graduating Flathead County High School in 1956, he joined the Army. After the Army he came back to the Flathead and joined the sheriff's office. He then married Ruby Waller from Georgia. Following his divorce several years later, he left the valley and went on the rodeo circuit. He traveled throughout the United States making a living riding rough stock. He acquired many buckles but was most pleased when he won the bull dogging at Madison Square Garden in New York City. During this time he met his wife, Kathy Sharrow, in New York and they married on March 7, 1970, in Tucson, Ariz. They returned to the Flathead where he worked as a deputy at the sheriff's office. He left the office to start T and N Industries, building horse trailers. As gas prices started to rise, he shut down the business and went to work at Rolie's Machine Shop. After they closed the doors, he worked at Pacific Hide and Steel. In 1989, he went to work for Flathead County Road Department as a welder, and retired in 1999. John had a passion for American history and old guns. In 1975, he was one of the five original members to start the Flathead Freetrappers, recreating the lifestyle and camaraderie of the mountain man. He attended many a mountain man rendezvous throughout the United States, and met and made many friends along the way. He also enjoyed 1,000 yard-long range shooting with black powder cartridge rifles, attending many competitive events throughout the years. John loved kids and helped many by teaching them to rope and ride. He was also a foster parent and helped four boys get a better outlook on life. The last eight years he enjoyed going to Kingman, Ariz., for the winters. He had a place right next to a shooting range, so he would spend many hours doing what he loved best. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Edith Taylor; and his sister, Joan. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy; his sister, Rosella Isaacson, and her husband, Lee, of Kalispell; nieces, Carolyn and Bob Cornelius of Butte, Wendy Larson of Columbia Falls, and Rhonda and John Tuin of Carson City, Nev.; and nephews, Gary and Stacy Taylor of Castle Rock, Colo., Bob DeRosia of Columbia Falls, Ed and Virginia Proefrock of Hillsboro, Ore., and Dean and Sheila Proefrock of College Place, Wash. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Fairview Cemetery. A reception will follow at 4 p.m. at the Elks.( The Daily Inter Lake,Tuesday, October 16, 2012 )
