Brown, Marysville has lost one of her esteemed Old residents. He was born in Palmyra, Indiana, Aug. 1, 1842, and died at Marysville, Dec. 16, 1919, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 15 days. He served his country during the civil war, enlisting in Co. C of the 66th Indiana Inf., Aug. 7, 1862. He was mustered out June 3, 1865. He was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Hancock in Palmyra, Ind., Dec. 10, 1865. They moved to Holliday, Ill., about 1870, where they resided for two years, then moved to Davis Co., Iowa. They came to Marysville in 1880, where they resided till death called him away. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife with whom he traveled life's journey a few days over 54 years and nine children - Tom, George and Mrs. Linnie Ricly of Marysville, Albert of Avoca, Ia., Mrs. Emma Leiby of Conata, S.D, Ben of Rapid City, S.D., Ott of Imlay, S.D., Mrs. Jrudie Johnson of Bussey, Ia., and Charles of Oskaloosa, Ia. Besides these he leaves one sister, Mrs. Margaret Jewel of Effingham, Ill., and 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. When a boy, he confessed faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour, was baptized and received into membership in the Christian church. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. for 47 years. The lodge attended in a body and had charge of the services at the grave. The service was held in the Marysville M.E. church, Friday, December 19, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. E. Fitzsimmons. Internment was in the Marysville cemetery. Mr. Brown was of a quiet, reserved disposition, and always lived in peace and harmony with his fellowmen. He was a highly respected citizen and commanded the esteem and good will of those who knew him.
