''''''' Albion Weekly News (Albion, Nebr.), April 24, 1952, p. 3, col. 1 [St. Edward] MET DEATH BY SUFFOCATION Jack LeClaire of Valley met death Sunday evening, April 13, when shelled corn covered him up. Jack was the son of Mrs. John Good nee Helen Werts, of Valley and the grandson of Will Werts of St. Edward. Jack was working in the mill, and was sent up to push some corn down for the dryer. It is thought he must have loosened his grip on the ladder and the corn covered him, smothering him to death. The one working with him was not killed. Funeral services were held at Valley at the St. John church at 9:00. Jack was taken to Spalding and buried by the side of his father, Jacques LeClaire. He has one brother, Mark LeClaire who is in the navy and now stationed in Japan. Also a brother and sister, Marion and Patricia Good. Those attending the funeral from this vicinity were Will Werts, Francis and Charles Werts, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Mahoney, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Werts, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Werts, Madeline, Jo Ann and Harry; Mrs. James Werts, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Coan of Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Don Zimmerman of Omaha also attended.
