On Oct. 21, 1950, he married Charlotte Adams. She died in 1998. In October 2000, he married Shirley Hummell. Mr. Mitchell was a butcher for Beavers and a TV repairman for Nesbitts before becoming an institutional baker at the Mental Health Institute and then the Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility until his retirement. He was a member of Trenton United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Rebecca Turney of Park Hills, Ky., Cynthia Bell of Boone and Marie Mitchell of Richmond, Texas; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one half brother, Melvin Long of California. Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The celebration of life for Mr. Mitchell will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trenton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Wayne Township Cemetery near Olds. A memorial has been established to fund a chair lift for Trenton United Methodist Church.
