Warren, a resident of this community for more than 58 years, were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 23, at the Holyoke Christian church. Officiating at the service was James Dobyns, minister of the Christian church. Arrangements were in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. Mr. Warren, who would have observed his 88th birthday on April 27, passed away at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the East Phillips County Hospital here. He had been in failing health the past few years but remained quite active until the last year. As long as his health permitted, he greatly enjoyed working in his well-kept yard and garden. He was a retired farmer. A son of Martin Thomas Warren and Esther Ann Wages Warren, John E.B. Warren was born at Wilber, in southeastern Nebraska, on April 27, 1877. While living at Eddyville, Nebraska he was baptized and became a member of the United Evangelical church. On August 14, 1900 he was united in marriage at Eddyville to Susie J. Sipes. To this union two children were born, Opal Mae, who died at birth, and Charles Edwin, who passed away in 1938. Mr. Warren's parents and two brothers, Charles and Frank, also preceded him in death. Mr. and Mrs. Warren came to Colorado from Eddyville in October 1906, making the trip in about 10 days with teams and wagons. They settled in a homestead 13 miles southwest of Holyoke, where they made their home for 42 years. In December 1948 they moved to the present home in Holyoke. Surviving Mr. Warren are his wife, Susie, Holyoke; one brother, Clarence Warren, Solomon, Idaho; his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sylvia Warren, Holyoke; two grandsons, Harold Warren who is serving in the U.S. Air Force at Anchorage, Alaska, and Leonard Ray Warren, Holyoke; seven great grandchildren; one niece; several nephews and other relatives and many friends. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ John signed a WWI draft registration card September 12, 1918 at Phillips County, Colorado giving his date of birth as April 27, 1877. Description: age 41, married, medium height, slender build, light blue eyes, light brown hair, slightly bald. John and Susie were living at Wages Route in Holyoke where he was a farmer.
