Interment was made in Calvary cemetery, the Rev. Leonard, assisted by Rev. Ginter, giving the absolution. John, son of the late James and Mary (Murray) Orr, was born in Temple Hill May 1, 1866. He was educated in the schools of his home community and on January 20, 1891 at St. Peter's was united in marriage with Miss Jane McQuillen. Following their marriage they took up residence in Cascade which was to be home to them throughout their lives. To this union were born twelve children - eight of whom – five sons and three daughters – survive his passing. They are, Loras and Donald, of Davenport, Otto, Wichita, Kansas; Charles, Cedar Rapids, Herbert, Cascade, Mrs. Florence Gavin, Cascade, Mrs. Maurice (Mary) Neville, Anamosa, Mrs. Clifford (Viola) Hemphill, Guttenberg. Other survivors include, one sister, Mrs. Agnes French, Wyoming, la., 31 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, one daughter, three sons, three brothers and three sisters. In his active years, Mr. Orr followed the carpenter trade. A member of St. Martin's parish, Mr. Orr had many friends among the older residents of Cascade. Pallbearers were Louis Finn, Leo Burke, William Duffy, Charles Oeschger, Earl Fagan, Francis McNally.
