Description	:	John Frederick Rohn, Sr. was the son of Claus Frederick Rohn and Christina Margaretha Doratha Peters Reimers Rohn. Born Jan. 4, 1881 in New Holstein, WI (Calumet Co.) Claus was born in 1841 in Germany and emigrated 1862. Christina was born in Feb. 1848 and emigrated at the age of 2 in 1850. Christina had been married to first husband George (Gurgen) Reimers Dec. 8, 1868. George died Apr. 23, 1874 and she married Claus Rohn on June 14, 1878 in Chilton, WI. Rohn born 16 Nov. 1889 in NE. John attended Western State Teachers College and the University of Nebraska. On Aug. 21, 1915 he married Gertrude Violet Johnson (Born 1898), from Fremont who was working as a cashier at the YMCA. He was 17 years older than she was. From 1917-1919 he was the City Attorney.From 1929-1935 he was the Mayor of Fremont. From 1924-1930 he served as President on the Board of Education. From 1933-35 he was on the Board of Education for State Normal Schools, and was President of it in 1935. In 1934 he ran unsuccessfully for Democratic candidate for gubernatorial nomination. He was a partner in his law firm with his eldest son Willam Rohn. After his retirement, he went to live with his daughter Detta Marie Rohn Carlson and her husband Conrad Carlson in Illinois. He and Gertrude had 4 children: William Rohn (Born Aug. 30,1916- March 13,1984), Detta Marie Rohn Carlson (Born Nov.7,1917), John Frederick Rohn, Jr. (born Feb. 26,1920-July 23, 1974-ashes buried in Yellowstone), and Roma Mae Rohn Hall born Feb. 23, 1926)
