Born in Anderson on January 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Sanford H. Cleveland and the late Avis Gilstrap Cleveland. He attended Anderson Boys High School. For sixty years, John was the loving and devoted husband of Judie Perry Cleveland of the residence. Johnny owned and operated a used car sales business in Anderson for many years. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Judie, he is survived by two sons, Lee Cleveland and his wife, Darlene of Williamston, SC and Dean Cleveland and his wife, Nancy of Anderson; two grandchildren, Kyle Cleveland and his wife, Nikki and Kristin Mattison and her husband, Josh, and four great-grandchildren, Kingston and Karter Anne Cleveland and Celia Kate and Jackson Mattison. A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of John Cleveland will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Reverend Dr. Don Cox and Rev. Mitch Houston officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at the McDougald Funeral Home on Friday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Contributions in memory of Mr. Cleveland may be made to Concord Baptist Church, 1012 Concord Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
