Daughters Jane and Mary were born in the U.S. John came to Upper Canada and on July 1, 1819, he and Abraham Neilson, who had emigrated from the same area, petitioned for land grants. Son George died in 1818. Daughter Jane married Thomas Hume and they farmed on the west half of Lot 12, Con. 4. He was the Scotch Block postmaster. In 1884, they moved to Walkerton. Mary married Alexander Hume and farmed on the George Hume homestead of Lot 11, Con. 2. John went to Kincardine in Bruce County. Thomas married Margaret Michie. They farmed the west half of Lot 9, Con. 6.
