Frank Leech Dies at Conrad After an illness of five years, John Frank Leech, familiarly known to all old timers in this area as Frank, passed away on Tuesday of last week at a hospital in Conrad. The funeral was held Friday at Dupuyer, with a large concourse of neighbors and friends from far and near attending. Widely known as a stockman and leading citizen, Mr. Leech had developed a modern ranch about two miles southeast of Dupuyer and there had resided for many years. He was a familiar figure in Choteau in the days before the county was divided, and in subsequent years frequently came here to transact business and fraternize with old time friends. Mr. Leech was born in Union county, Iowa, July 27, 1871, and came to Montana Sept. 5, 1891. He was in the sheep business south of Dupuyer since that time. He was a Pondera county commissioner for five years, being appointed Aug. 29, 1929 and being elected in 1930. He resigned before his term was completed because of illness. A paralytic stroke in Oct. 1933 brought on his first major illness and he was ill since. He was confined in a Great Falls hospital for three years. In Feb. 1937, he returned to live with his son until a few weeks ago when he was taken to a Conrad hospital. Survivors are a son, Frank Clynn Leech, of Dupuyer, a daughter, Eria Davis, of San Diego; three brothers, Don, Loy and Bert, of California; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Vincent, of Garden City, Neb., and Mrs. H.E. Brockman of Swan, Minn. Another brother, Gene, died about three years ago.
